  • Baked Tieguanyin 炭焙铁观音 (Anxi)

  • Renowned Unknown Fragrance 著名不知香 (Singapore)

The story of oolong tea is deeply intertwined with the migration and commerce of the Chinese people, particularly those from Fujian. As Chinese merchants settled in Singapore, they brought with them the treasured teas of their homeland. The Fujian-Singapore tea trade flourished, driven by the nostalgic demand of overseas Chinese longing for a taste of home.

Join us as we explore the historical and cultural significance of these teas, reflecting the legacy of the Fujian tea merchants who braved new lands and established thriving communities in Southeast Asia. Experience how each sip connects the past with the present, bringing the essence of Wuyi, Anxi, Xiamen, and Singapore to life.

Cost: 29 € per person

Yunnan White Tea - Horizontal Tasting of 5 teas

  • Prague Tea Fest (@Karlínské spectrum) (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

This is a unique tasting opportunity in which we will discover teas from 5 different tea gardens in Lincang Yunnan. All three teas are vibrant “green” ancient tree white teas from Yunnan Province. This style is rather uncommon in China.

This tasting is designed for those who want to discover the subtle differences which growing environment has on the production of white tea:

  • Cold brew comparative tasting as well as observation of dry and wet leaves

  • Parallel cupping of all 5 white teas (@85°C and @95°C)

  • gong fu cha style brewing of 1-2 favorites of the group

“White tea, due to its simple processing method, allows the distinct characteristics of the raw materials to shine through. Factors like the elevation of the tea garden, soil composition, sunlight exposure, and the age of the tea trees all contribute to the diversification of aroma and flavor profiles, even within the same category of ancient tree white tea. Therefore, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that if there are ten varieties of white tea, there are ten unique aromatic profiles. Tasting white teas produced from different tea gardens is genuinely an exciting experience.” (Akira HOJO)
